With business software, even the smallest technological advancements lead to savings. The savings are indirect, achieved through increased efficiency. This is especially true for enterprises with huge, multi-project environments. Finding the right software to handle such an environment, however, can be a monumental task. Many solutions only equipped for small and medium-sized businesses are disguised. Overly-ambitious marketing campaigns and exaggerated product descriptions lump thousands of unequal solutions into a single “enterprise business software” category. At this high-end level business software must meet a lot of additional requirements. Some features that set true enterprise project management software, for example, apart from the rest include:

-Various means of sharing resources between multiple projects

-Sophisticated risk assessment tools

-Detailed project performance tracking

-Tools for creating a detailed project budget

-Automation when demanded, with the ability to be overridden
